Success for Poles in Google Comp

14 May 2008

Three Polish high school students April 28 emerged among the winners of an international competition organized by the Google internet search engine provider for young programmers.

The Google Highly Open Participation contest was the first organized by the world's biggest search engine provider that aimed to encourage students to work on the development of open source software. More than 350 students worldwide took part.

The young programmers had to perform various tasks with various levels of difficulty. Each was assessed in four categories: creativity, precision, quality of performed tasks, and the level of engagement in the development of the open source software community.

The awards ceremony will be held in early July at Google's headquarters in California in the United States. The Polish winners, Tomasz Dobrzyński, Jarosław Tworek and Wojtek Szkutnik, together with those from other countries, including South Africa, Russia, Thailand and Britain will be invited to visit Google's headquarters.

Congress to Discuss Globalization

The fourth All-Poland MBA Congress will take place on June 6-8, at the initiative of the Cracow Business School at the Cracow University of Economics.

"Efficient Management in Time of Globalization" is the main topic of the event. The congress is a chance to meet and exchange experiences for people whose professional development paths are combined with MBA studies. The aim of this year's congress is to attract students' attention to globalization.

What should be done to prevent local character from impeding globalization, and globalization from stifling local character? What are the differences between managing a corporation in the United States, and leading a corporation in Japan? Are MBA programs in Poland breeding world-caliber leaders? These questions will be tackled during the congress.

The main attraction of this year's event will be a golf course with a golf tournament and an opportunity for beginners to learn how to play golf.

There will also be a business mixer and an evening charity auction. An evening party at Andel's Hotel Cracow will provide the finale to the congress. The only way to apply for the congress is by filling an application form at www.kongresmba.pl
