PepsiAmericas Launches New Production Line

By A.R.
28 May 2008

PepsiAmericas, the world's second biggest producer, seller and distributor of PepsiCo beverages, launched an "aseptic" line for the production of preservative-free Lipton Ice Tea and Toma juices in Michrów, Mazovia province, in May.

In response to growing demand for healthier beverages, PepsiAmericas CEG decided to invest $150 million in the development of production facilities in Central and Eastern Europe this year. The Michrów project is part of this strategy. "This state-of-the-art-technology production line will be used for producing beverages that are free from preservatives and artificial colorants," said Petr Mlatecek, marketing director at PepsiAmericas.

The Lipton Ice Tea brand was introduced to Poland 10 years ago. The Michrów project will cost $25 million. The company say the plant's output will grow by 10 percent this year and a further 30 percent next year. The beverages will be distributed in Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Owing to the new production line, employment in the factory has grown by 20 percent to 197. The company plans to increase employment further.

PepsiAmericas CEG Polska, part of the multinational corporation PepsiAmericas, is the second biggest producer and distributor of beverages in Central and Eastern Europe. "Growing consumption and wages in Poland, coupled with falling unemployment, generate demand for high quality healthy products," said Christophe Guille, CEO of PepsiAmericas CEG. "That allows PepsiAmericas to estimate the imminent growth of the refreshment beverage market."
