WDA News

16 December 2009

Where the World Meets
The WDA again took part in EIBTM, a leading global event for the meetings and incentive industry, held in Barcelona, Spain, Dec. 1-3.

The three-day event facilitated access to a dynamic business environment, especially as Barcelona is a vibrant business and tourism destination. The meeting also provided professional education and networking opportunities for exhibitors and visitors alike.

Central Europe Workshop
The WDA joined a road show held in northern Europe Nov. 23-27 by the Polish Information Center in Stockholm, Sweden, in association with the Czech and Hungarian Tourist Information Center and Polish air carrier LOT.

The event, called Central Europe Workshop, covered Nordic capital cities Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, and Helsinki. The road show attracted 50 or so representatives from local travel agencies and provided an opportunity to find out about the Scandinavian tourist industry.

Travel Photo Awards
Sixteen photographs were singled out for praise in a photographic competition organized by the Polish Travel Organization (POT) and the Polish Press Agency together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The competition was open to professionals and amateurs and attracted more than 450 entries.

The winning entries will be used to promote Poland at home and abroad. The organizers encouraged those who combine a passion for photography with a love of travel to share their vacation experiences, and at the same time show the beauty of the country in an innovative manner.

First prize went to Maciej Raczyński for his photograph "Warsaw, View from the Marriott Hotel." Two second prizes, funded by the Ministry of Tourism and Sport and the Polish Tourist Organization, went to Bogumiła Piazza for her "Vistula Sandbar" and to Jola and Franciszek Kluczyński for their photograph of Gdańsk's Old Town.
