WDA News

New WDA Membership Structure
WDA has revamped its membership structure to better meet the expectations of its members. As a reward for helping promote the city, financial members are entitled to take advantage of a benefits program that, depending on the type of membership, includes discounts on selected services and products, in addition to exclusive sponsorship opportunities. The WDA has three types of membership: Platinum, Gold and Silver.

The WDA was founded in 2003 and today has 86 members, including major hotels in Warsaw, which are the pillars of the organization. The foundation's goal is to be a leader in marketing and facilitate the highest quality tourism climate in Warsaw.

The WDA's focus is not on the quantity of members, but on making sure that each member is passionate about promoting Warsaw and its development. It is all about what businesses and companies can do for Warsaw.

There are many ways of promoting the capital, and member companies not only derive satisfaction from taking part in successful promotions together with the WDA, but are also able to get the value-added for their company by way of spin-offs and brand exposure.

Businesses and companies wishing to join this dynamic group and become members of the exciting foundation of passionate promoters of Warsaw should contact Nicholas Robinson, Membership Executive Manager, WDA: Tel +48 22 222 3018 or nicholas.robinson@wda.waw.pl

WDA Chopin Cocktail
To mark the 200th anniversary of Frederic Chopin's birth, the WDA, in association with the InterContinental Hotel and Polmos Siedlce SA, the producer of the Chopin Vodka brand, will celebrate the Year of Chopin by holding a bartending competition.

All WDA member hotels may nominate their bartenders for the challenge. They will be required to submit their recipes for a cocktail based on Chopin Vodka. The winning cocktail will become the official cocktail of the Year of Chopin and is hoped to gain worldwide recognition. The name of the winning cocktail and all the rights will belong to the WDA.

WDA Wins Award
The Warsaw Chamber of Small Businesses (WIP) marked its 20th year at the Sobieski Hotel in December last year. During the event, the chamber handed out its annual Warsaw Mark of Quality awards. The competition, held since 1998, aims to select the best enterprises and institutions in the capital that have contributed most effectively to the development of entrepreneurship.

The Warsaw Destination Alliance received a special Victoria Diploma of the Warsaw Mark of Quality for its contribution to the long-term promotion of Warsaw on the British television network BBC World. WDA Membership Manager Nicholas Robinson collected the statuette and diploma on behalf of the WDA.

WDA City Fee Collection/Levy
In December 2009, WDA member hotels collected a total of zl.24,547 in voluntary levies from hotel guests. Throughout the year, they collected zl.455,399.
