The main goal of the Polish navy for 2004 include participation in over 300 Polish and international sea, air and ground maneuvers and command and staff exercises taking place in Poland and abroad, as well as participation in the campaigns of the NATO Rapid Reaction Force.
The main international maneuvers using the participation of the Polish navy will be the Baltops 2004 exercise in which the Polish fleet will take part for the 12th time. The most significant European peacetime naval maneuvers are organized under the auspices of the Partnership for Peace. The major NATO maneuvers in which the Polish navy is to take part will be the Blue Game exercise involving all classes of warships and sea/air forces, the Baltic Porpoise maneuvers of submarines, Open Spirit concerning anti-mine forces, the Cooperative Baltic Eye and Crown Eagle rescue maneuvers as well as air exercise of the Squadex series. Polish warships will also take part in campaigns and exercises of the NATO Rapid Reaction Force. The biggest Polish navy exercise will be Rekin 2004 involving all fighting, support and security units.
Preparations for this year's NATO and Baltic states' naval maneuvers of the Partnership for Peace Program are in progress at Gdynia. Fleets from 14 states will take part in the Baltops 2004 exercise. The event's main organizer is the U.S. navy and is co-organized this year by the Swedish navy.
The landing operation exercise carried out as part of the Peace Maintenance Campaign will be continued this year. Over 600 marines as well as special force and land unit soldiers will land on the beach in Ustka (Central Coast). Stabilizing units from four states will also practice various aspects of peace campaigning and special activities carried out from the sea on coastal areas. The maneuvers will begin with the team's ships' entering the port of Gdynia in early June and will end at the port in Kiel.
