Since the end of March the CSW/ZPAF Ma³a Gallery, 8 Zamkowy Sq., is showing the latest series of photographs by Tomasz Konart, A Press Review.
Konart was born in 1955 in Warsaw. He graduated from the Film School in £ód¼ ad Ryerson University in Toronto, where he now lives and works. He is a well-known and appreciated photographer and has a few dozen collective and individual exhibitions to his account.
"Never before has information been so important as today," says the exhibition curator Marek Grygiel. "Particularly now, in the time of violent, unpredictable changes and unexpected events."
The series of photographs created specially for Ma³a Gallery questions the durability of information that is current and important to us at a given moment. In his works, Konart symbolically juxtaposes the temporary quality of a media message with the lasting character of architecture.
Using digital techniques, Konart photographed the world in which he was brought up and the present world as two adjoining entities. He placed brief press communiqués and quotes from political speeches on the fragments of the facade of a medieval cathedral.
The exhibition runs through April 24.
