Poland mulls legislation to protect homo- and transsexuals

The Polish government is likely to implement prison sentence for those who offend homo- or transsexuals, to protect them in a similar way as national, ethnic, race or religious minorities, the daily Rzeczpospolita writes.
Justice Ministry has supported postulates to run legislative works on bills prepared by leftist parties Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) and Your Movement assuming a three-year prison sentence for those who offend homo- and transsexuals and a five-year sentence for those who utter threats against them.
Conservatives are against such a solution saying that such legislation could be used by gays to sue those who believe that marriage is a relation between a man and a woman, former Justice Minister Jaroslaw Gowin said.
